Noin vuosi sitten saimme tiedon siitä, että ihan oikea teatterilevitys My Little Pony -leffa (jossa siis ponit pääosassa) vuonna 2017. Nyt on selvinnyt, että leffan jakeluyhtiöksi on valikoitunut Lionsgate, joka siis vastaa leffan maailman laajuisesta jakelusta ja markkinoinnista (poislukien Kiina).
Samasta lehdistötiedotteesta käy myös ilmi, että pääosissa ovat My Little Pony: Friendship Magic -sarjan pääkuusikko sekä heidän ääninään samat henkilöt kuin sarjassakin, joten voimme ainakin pari faneja huolestuttanutta asiaa leffan suhteen laittaa lepoon, kuten myös se, että leffa on todellakin animaatioleffa. In the movie, a new dark force threatens Ponyville, and the Mane 6 – Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity – embark on an unforgettable journey beyond Equestria where they meet new friends and exciting challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship and save their home. Creative executives Jeyun Choi Munford and Kyle Benn will oversee the movie on behalf of Lionsgate, and Josh Feldmanis overseeing development on behalf of Hasbro.
