Noin vuosi sitten saimme tiedon siitä, että ihan oikea teatterilevitys My Little Pony -leffa (jossa siis ponit pääosassa) vuonna 2017. Nyt on selvinnyt, että leffan jakeluyhtiöksi on valikoitunut Lionsgate, joka siis vastaa leffan maailman laajuisesta jakelusta ja markkinoinnista (poislukien Kiina).
Samasta lehdistötiedotteesta käy myös ilmi, että pääosissa ovat My Little Pony: Friendship Magic -sarjan pääkuusikko sekä heidän ääninään samat henkilöt kuin sarjassakin, joten voimme ainakin pari faneja huolestuttanutta asiaa leffan suhteen laittaa lepoon, kuten myös se, että leffa on todellakin animaatioleffa. Creative executives Jeyun Choi Munford and Kyle Benn will oversee the movie on behalf of Lionsgate, and Josh Feldmanis overseeing development on behalf of Hasbro. The deal was negotiated by Jean Chi, Executive Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs for Lionsgate, and Michael Eisner, Senior Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs for Hasbro. This is the second film from Lionsgate and Hasbro, who are also producing a live action film based on the iconic board game, MONOPOLY.
